Awele Eluemunor: Tragedy as Final Year Nursing Student Dies in Deadly Driving Lesson Accident

A devastating incident unfolded in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State when Awele Agatha Eluemunor, a final-year nursing student at Delta State College of Nursing in Agbor, was struck fatally by an inexperienced driver.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the accident took place around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
A first-year student from the University of Delta, who was receiving driving lessons from her boyfriend, lost control of the vehicle on a busy road, causing the car to swerve and collide with several pedestrians.

Awele, aged 23 and looking forward to her graduation in November 2025, died instantly at the scene. Two other individuals were severely injured and remain in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the vehicle’s owner—identified as the boyfriend of the learner driver—immediately fled the scene, leaving the driver behind. The following day, authorities arrested the young driver.
However, the situation intensified when she sought police permission to leave and take her examinations, prompting nursing students to protest in demand of justice for their fallen colleague.

Awele was laid to rest in her hometown of Ogwashi-Uku on Friday, February 21, as family, friends, and fellow students gathered to mourn her untimely loss.
