Friday is facing a charge of attempted culpable homicide. According to the prosecution, the incident happened in the Angwan Tiv area of Lugbe, Abuja, where he allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Theophilus Edache, during an argument.
The prosecution told the court that the attack caused severe injuries, which eventually led to the amputation of the victim’s left hand.
Despite the allegations, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
During proceedings, defence counsel Noah Abdul urged the court to grant his client bail, arguing that the offence is not a capital one and therefore qualifies for bail under the law.
However, prosecuting counsel Donatus Abah opposed the application, insisting that releasing the defendant could put the victim at further risk. He argued that the victim is now more vulnerable due to his injury and may not be able to defend himself if the accused is freed.

After hearing both sides, Justice Idris ordered that the defendant remain in a correctional facility pending a ruling on the bail application. The case was adjourned to May 13 for further proceedings.
