The Delta State Police Command has clarified that the body of Oghenemine Ogidi, the young man allegedly killed by a police officer, is not missing but has been deposited in a mortuary in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the clarification follows reports on social media alleging that the family had been denied access to his remains and that the police could not account for the body.

Reacting, the Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, dismissed the claims as false and misleading.
“His body is at the mortuary, and the family have been told that whenever they want to see it, they will be allowed to,” he said in a post on his X handle.

Edafe explained that the case is being treated as suspected murder, making an autopsy necessary.
“It’s a case of suspected murder, so an autopsy is compulsory, and the family also agreed to this,” he added.
Ogidi, a 28-year-old musician, was reportedly shot dead in broad daylight in Effurun.
The police had earlier confirmed that the officer allegedly responsible, ASP Nuhu Usman, has been arrested and transferred to Force Headquarters for disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the dismissal and prosecution of officers linked to the incident.
