A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the detention of ten #EndBadGovernance protesters at Kuje Correctional Centre while their bail applications are pending.

The court is scheduled to consider these applications on September 11.

The 5th defendant, the only female among the accused, has been directed to remain at Suleja Correctional Centre.

During the hearing, Abubakar Marshal, representing the 1st to 4th defendants, challenged their continued detention and requested bail.

He argued that bail is a discretionary matter and criticized the prosecution for failing to present substantial evidence to support the treason charges.

Marshal also pointed out that bail applications can be made orally and asked for his clients to be granted bail under lenient conditions. This request was supported by Deji Adeyanju, counsel for the 6th to 8th defendants, and by lawyers representing the 5th, 9th, and 10th defendants.

In response, Prosecution Counsel Simon Lough emphasized the need to keep the defendants in correctional facilities.

Justice Emeka Nwite adjourned the case until September 11.
