In an accreditation update issued to journalists ahead of the competition, FIFA outlined the structure of the tournament and identified the six nations set to participate.

DR Congo’s confirmation comes despite a protest from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which had contested the outcome of their CAF play-off clash in November 2025. The match finished 1-1 before Nigeria lost in a penalty shootout.
The NFF had filed a formal complaint, claiming that DR Congo used ineligible players during the encounter and requesting that the result be reviewed.
