Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B is facing a civil lawsuit after allegedly hitting a fan with a microphone during her July 2023 performance in Las Vegas.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the lawsuit, filed by a woman identified as “Jane Doe” from Ohio, accuses the rapper of battery, assault, and negligence following the on-stage outburst at Drai’s Beachclub.

According to court documents, the July 29 performance turned sour when Cardi B, who was visibly overheated, urged fans to splash her with water to cool off.
Jane Doe claims she complied by gently tossing a small amount of her drink towards the stage, as others had done.
The suit alleges that Cardi B suddenly hurled her microphone directly at the plaintiff, striking her and causing unconsented physical contact and injury.
The legal filing describes the act as “excessive, disproportionate, and retaliatory,” carried out in public, thereby inflicting reputational and emotional harm.

Jane Doe is demanding both compensatory and punitive damages, citing humiliation, shock, and physical pain.
The lawsuit also contends that Cardi B should have foreseen the risk of harm by throwing an object into the crowd.
Video footage of the incident, which circulated widely online, shows the rapper reacting moments before launching the mic.
The incident received widespread backlash at the time, with fans split over whether the act was justified or impulsive.
Cardi B has yet to publicly comment on the fresh legal action, though her legal team previously stated the incident was a reaction to a safety threat.
The microphone reportedly bounced off the plaintiff and hit another concertgoer, who later clarified she was uninjured.
This is not the first time Cardi B’s on-stage antics have sparked public debate or controversy.
The lawsuit now places her in the spotlight again, this time in a courtroom rather than on stage.
If the court rules in favour of the plaintiff, it could set a legal precedent for future fan-artiste altercations.
No trial date has been set at the time of filing this report.
