The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has appealed to residents to remain calm following a fire outbreak at the closed Solous III dumpsite, assuring that emergency responders are working to bring the situation under control.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, LAWMA said it was collaborating with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other relevant emergency and security agencies to contain the blaze, protect lives and property, and minimise any environmental impact.

The authority said preliminary information had been received regarding the incident but stressed that investigations were still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
LAWMA cautioned against speculation, noting that it would be premature to conclude what triggered the incident until all relevant facts had been established and verified.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and assured residents that further updates would be communicated through its official channels as more verified information becomes available.
It also urged members of the public to remain calm and disregard unverified reports capable of causing unnecessary panic and anxiety.
