Adeboye Told To Return Tithes Collected From Members Following Apology
Nigerian singer and presenter Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticized Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), following the pastor’s recent apology about his teachings on tithing.
The apology, which has sparked widespread reactions online, came during the church’s International Youth Convention (IYC) held at the Redemption City of God, Mowe, Ogun State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Adeboye had previously declared that people who don’t pay tithes would not make it to heaven, but he retracted this statement during the event, admitting it was wrong and not biblical.
He said, “I’m apologizing for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible.
“What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.'”
In response, Charly Boy took to social media to express his disdain for the apology, stating that it holds no value unless Adeboye promises to return the tithes he collected. He further criticized the church for misleading its congregation, accusing some church leaders of being “fake.”
Charly Boy wrote: “Your apology doesn’t mean anything unless you return the tithe money.
“Stop feeding your congregation ridiculous lies. Some of the nicest people you meet are those covered in tattoos, while the most bitter and judgmental ones are in church every Sunday.
“I knew your ways weren’t pure since you told people to throw away their TVs years ago. Apology? You know exactly what you’re doing.”
His comments have ignited further debate on social media, with supporters and critics voicing their opinions on the matter.
