He disclosed that the distribution would be carried out in phases, beginning with 600 tractors, followed by 750 and 650 units, bringing the total to 2,000 mechanisation assets nationwide.
Abdullahi revealed that more than 100,000 applications were received for the first phase alone, describing the response as a strong vote of confidence in the programme. He clarified that the tractors would not be allocated for private ownership but assigned to mechanisation service providers under a lease-to-own arrangement.
According to the minister, each tractor is capable of servicing about 600 hectares annually. The intervention is projected to benefit approximately 1.2 million farmers and cover over 1.5 million hectares of farmland each year.

The programme also includes the deployment of more than 9,000 precision implements, two years of free service support for each tractor, and the introduction of 36 mobile service trucks to provide technical assistance.
In addition, the minister announced plans to establish seven mega mechanisation service centres across the country, as well as a tractor assembly plant with the capacity to produce between 2,000 and 4,000 tractors annually.
