EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking at a reception organised by the Oyo State Government for PDP Governors’ Forum members in Ibadan, Mohammed stressed the party’s resilience despite mounting challenges. The event, held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, provided a platform for the governors to assess the party’s progress and chart a course for the future.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in his address, expressed optimism about the PDP’s chances in the 2027 general elections. He stated that the party had learned valuable lessons from past missteps and is now better prepared to reclaim power at the federal level. Makinde emphasised the importance of unity and strengthening the party’s foundations ahead of the next polls.
Governor Mohammed reiterated that despite the hurdles, the PDP remains strong and undivided. He dismissed rumours of internal strife, insisting that the governors and the party’s National Working Committee are working closely to resolve any issues and fulfil their mandates to Nigerians.
“We are here on a routine meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum. It has become a tradition of reconnection, reassessment, and self-assessment. Some of the speculations about division are mere lies. We are united, working together with the National Working Committee to ensure all disparaging issues are set aside,” Mohammed said.
He highlighted the challenges faced by PDP governors, noting that they continue to endure persecution but remain committed to governance and public service. Mohammed praised the achievements of PDP governors across states, pointing to infrastructural developments and improvements in security and human capital.
“In 2027, by the grace of God, we shall take over leadership in this country because Nigerians have learned and now know what true governance entails,” Mohammed declared.
He lauded the efforts of his colleagues, citing ongoing transformations in states like Adamawa, Taraba, Zamfara, and Osun. He particularly praised Oyo State under Makinde for its strides in infrastructure and human capital development.
