British heavyweight Dillian Whyte is setting his sights on a trilogy fight with Anthony Joshua, vowing to retire his long-time rival.
The pair first met 16 years ago on the amateur circuit, where Whyte secured a points victory over a much less experienced Joshua, who had just begun his boxing journey.

Their intense rivalry reignited in December 2015 when Joshua claimed the vacant British heavyweight title with a dramatic seventh-round knockout of Whyte, who had stunned Joshua in the second round before succumbing to his first professional defeat.
A highly anticipated rematch was scheduled for August 2023 but was cancelled after Whyte failed a doping test, later determined to be the result of a contaminated supplement. Robert Helenius stepped in but was knocked out by Joshua in seven rounds.
Now, with Joshua set to return to the ring after a shocking knockout loss to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois last September, Whyte is eager to face him again. Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, Whyte expressed interest in a third bout, suggesting that Joshua may be “finished” following his loss to Dubois, and vowed to end his career with a win.
“If he wants to fight, then all they’ve got to do is call me. I’m always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he’s finished. I think he made a huge mistake not taking the immediate rematch with Dubois. It was a world title fight, a great payday and the perfect opportunity to avenge his knockout loss.”
“Me and him will always be a good fight. We just have that chemistry. I don’t want to lose to him, he doesn’t want to lose to me, and we want to prove each other wrong. We want to knock each other out so it will always be a good fight.

“Eddie [Hearn] has publicly stated Joshua could fight me next, but whether he will or not I don’t know whether he or his people want it, then we wait to see. I would love to retire him.”
Whyte made his comeback to the ring in December, securing a knockout victory over Ebenezer Tetteh in Gibraltar. The 36-year-old is eager to return to action soon, with a fight date and opponent set to be revealed in the near future.
