There was panic in Maiduguri on Monday evening after two explosions were reported at the popular Monday Market and near the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incidents occurred shortly after iftar, around 7:20 PM, a time when many residents were out for evening activities.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Kenneth Daso, said security agencies were immediately mobilised to the affected locations.
According to him, joint security operatives and emergency responders, including the police Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, have been deployed to assess the situation and secure the area.

Residents have been advised to remain calm but stay away from the affected locations while investigations and safety checks continue.
