A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the historic Museum Centre, a first-of-its-kind cultural repository designed to preserve and showcase the rich heritage, traditions, and historical evolution of Epe Kingdom.
The museum features rare and symbolic artifacts that reflect the identity and legacy of the people, including the statue of Uraka the Great Hunter, the first cannon historically associated with Ogunmude and his wife Alaro, as well as documented narratives of Akalajolu and other significant historical milestones.
Addressing guests during the unveiling, the Chairman emphasized the strategic importance of the museum in promoting tourism and cultural pride.
“As an ambassador of tourism, this museum is to show the world that Epe is full of history and tourism. With all we have here, we can clearly see that Epe is truly a tourist centre.”
She further noted that beyond preserving history, the museum would serve as an educational hub for younger generations, researchers, and visitors seeking to understand the deep-rooted traditions of Epe land.
In line with global trends and the need to prepare youths for a technology-driven future, the administration also commissioned a fully equipped ICT Centre.
The facility, powered by 24/7 solar energy and offering free WiFi access, is designed to bridge the digital divide and provide a conducive environment for learning, innovation, and digital empowerment.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chairman underscored the importance of equipping young people with relevant skills.
“We must train our young ones in ICT and STEM.
The future belongs to those who are prepared with knowledge and digital skills, and this centre is a step in the right direction.”
The ICT Centre is expected to host training programmes, workshops, and innovation-driven activities that will enhance digital literacy, encourage entrepreneurship, and create opportunities for youth development across the community.
Further expanding the council’s infrastructure base, the Chairman commissioned a modern multi-purpose hall, designed to accommodate official functions, community engagements, and social events.
The facility is expected to serve as a central venue for government and community interactions, fostering inclusivity and civic participation.
Complementing this is the Local Government service housing project, which the Chairman described as a strategic initiative aimed at improving staff welfare while also serving as a revenue-generating asset for the council.
“These facilities are not just for use, they are strategic investments that will generate revenue and support the sustainability of the council.”
In addition to infrastructure development, the administration took further steps to enhance operational efficiency with the unveiling of newly acquired vehicles.
These include official vehicles for legislators, a staff bus to ease transportation challenges, and a security van to strengthen safety operations within the council and surrounding communities.
The Chairman noted that the provision of these vehicles would significantly improve service delivery, boost staff productivity, and reinforce security architecture within the locality.
The commissioning ceremony drew commendations from dignitaries and stakeholders, who praised the administration for its proactive and impactful approach to governance.
Many described the projects as timely interventions that reflect a deep understanding of the needs of the people.
With these developments, Epe Local Government continues to chart a progressive path, blending cultural heritage with modern innovation, while creating opportunities for economic growth and community advancement.
