- The U.S. Department of State has terminated the lawful permanent resident status of two relatives of the late Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani, citing ties to the Iranian government.
- Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, Soleimani’s niece, and her daughter were arrested by federal agents and are currently being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
- The move follows the recent revocation of legal status for Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of a former Iranian security official, as the Trump administration intensifies its policy against foreign nationals supporting “anti-American” regimes.
The United States government has taken decisive action against family members of the late Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) leader, Qasem Soleimani, revoking their green cards and placing them in federal detention.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released on Saturday, April 4, 2026, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the termination of legal status for Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter.

Federal officials alleged that while living an affluent lifestyle in Los Angeles, Soleimani Afshar served as an “outspoken supporter” of the Iranian regime.
Investigations reportedly found that she used social media to promote state narratives, celebrate attacks on American military personnel in the Middle East, and denounce the United States.
The State Department’s dossier on Soleimani Afshar claims she frequently voiced “unflinching support” for the IRGC, a group the U.S. has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
Documents suggest she praised the Iranian Supreme Leader and echoed extremist rhetoric while enjoying the benefits of U.S. residency.
In addition to the arrests of the niece and daughter, U.S. authorities have officially barred Soleimani Afshar’s husband from entering the country.
This coordinated effort between the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security marks a significant escalation in the monitoring of foreign nationals with high-level ties to Tehran.
The crackdown extends beyond the Soleimani family. Earlier this month, Secretary Rubio also terminated the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of former Iranian security chief Ali Larijani, and her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi.
Both have since left the United States and are permanently barred from re-entry.

“The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes,” the State Department statement concluded.
The operation underscores a rigid shift in U.S. immigration enforcement, specifically targeting individuals perceived to be benefiting from American residency while maintaining ideological or political allegiances to adversarial governments.
As of press time, both Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter remain in ICE custody pending further administrative or deportation proceedings.
