The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has received a Nigerian woman, Mrs Busola Victoria Alale, who was rescued from human trafficking and labour exploitation in Cairo, Egypt.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Alale, 41, an indigene of Ogun State, arrived in Lagos on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, where she was received at the airport by the Head of NiDCOM’s Lagos Office, Mr Dipo Odebowale, on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Her return to Nigeria was made possible through the intervention of an anonymous philanthropist who funded her trip back home.
Recounting her experience, Alale described enduring severe hardship while working as a domestic worker in Cairo. She said she was subjected to long working hours, often from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 a.m. the next day, with little or no rest, while being moved between multiple employers. According to her, the agent who facilitated her travel collected all her earnings.
She explained that she had previously operated a frozen foods business in Nigeria, which collapsed and pushed her to seek better opportunities abroad. However, she said the promises made to her before leaving the country turned out to be false.
Alale urged Nigerian youths, especially women, to be wary of enticing job offers abroad, warning that many of such opportunities expose victims to exploitation and abuse.
She expressed gratitude to NiDCOM, the anonymous donor, and the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner in Cairo for their roles in securing her rescue and return.

The Commission reiterated its warning against irregular migration and unverified overseas job offers, urging Nigerians to always seek proper guidance and confirm employment opportunities through official channels before travelling.
NiDCOM also stressed the need to expose and prosecute individuals involved in human trafficking, reaffirming its commitment to protecting Nigerians in the diaspora.
