The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of its workforce as part of efforts to improve efficiency and meet global standards.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Opeifa made this known while interacting with NRC delegates attending the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Week and Annual General Meeting in Kaduna.

He said investing in human capital development remains critical to enhancing staff competence and positioning the corporation for better service delivery.
According to him, the conference provides an important platform for employees to gain new knowledge and skills relevant to their roles, while also exposing them to global best practices in the industry.
Earlier, the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, commended the management for supporting the public relations unit, noting that participation in the annual gathering allows staff to interact with professionals across government and private sectors.

He added that such engagements would ultimately translate into improved efficiency and service delivery within the corporation.
Also speaking, the Managing Director’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Yinka Aderibigbe, described the 2026 edition of the event as impactful, citing the depth of discussions and knowledge sharing sessions.
He credited the NRC leadership for prioritising staff development across the organisation.
The event, which attracted over 2000 participants, was declared open by Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside other senior government officials.
In his remarks, NIPR President, Ike Neliaku, said the institute remains committed to promoting positive narratives about Nigeria despite prevailing challenges.
Chairman of the organising committee, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, noted that the conference also offered participants insights into developments in Kaduna State, including progress in infrastructure and security.
The NRC delegation included senior public relations officials drawn from various units of the corporation.
