An early Saturday morning explosion at a metal scrap company along the Eastern Bypass in Kano claimed the lives of five individuals and left ten others injured.
Eko Hot Blog reports that authorities linked the tragic incident to a truck transporting scrap materials to the facility. Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, confirmed the event during a media briefing, revealing that the truck had come from Yobe State.
However, further details about the vehicle remain unclear as investigations continue.

Bakori stated that the injured were taken to a nearby medical facility, where five were pronounced dead. The remaining ten victims are currently undergoing treatment.
He noted that it was still uncertain whether any security personnel were among the victims, adding that more information would emerge as inquiries progress.
“The police are actively investigating the cause of the explosion and assessing the extent of the damage,” Bakori said, assuring the public of a comprehensive investigation.
He urged residents to stay calm and cooperate with law enforcement as they work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
