The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested two dismissed officers, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, accused of impersonating the Service to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Service confirmed that the duo, earlier declared wanted in separate public warnings, had been apprehended and would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The Department of State Services recently issued disclaimers on two dismissed personnel of the Service, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin. These individuals were alleged to be cloaking under the Service to engage in fraudulent activities,” the DSS stated.
“The public is hereby notified that these culprits have been apprehended and will face prosecution in accordance with the law,” it added
The arrests follow weeks of public alerts by the DSS warning citizens against dealing with the former officers, who were dismissed for misconduct but continued to parade themselves as active operatives.

Earlier this month, the Service had issued separate statements on October 8, exposing the fraudulent activities of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who allegedly used the DSS name to extort money and deceive unsuspecting individuals.
The DSS reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Nigerians from impostors and maintaining public confidence in the Service. It also announced plans to publish the names of other dismissed personnel to help prevent citizens from falling prey to similar fraudulent schemes.
The Service further urged the public to verify all official engagements through its verified communication channels and to promptly report any suspicious activities involving persons claiming to represent the DSS.
