Renowned Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Femi Otedola, has shared a powerful and inspiring story about his journey to discovering true happiness.

When asked by a radio presenter, “Sir, what can you remember made you the happiest man in life?”

Otedola responded by detailing the four stages of happiness he experienced before finally understanding the meaning of true joy.

He explained, “The first stage was to accumulate wealth and means. But at this stage, I did not get the happiness I wanted.

Then came the second stage of collecting valuables and items. But I realized that the effect of this was temporary, and the lustre of valuable things did not last long.”

Otedola continued, “The third stage was getting big projects. I was holding 95% of diesel supply in Nigeria and Africa. I was also the largest vessel owner in Africa and Asia. But even here, I did not get the happiness I had imagined.”

According to Otedola, his perception of happiness changed during the fourth stage when a friend asked him to purchase wheelchairs for about 200 disabled children.

He agreed and personally delivered the wheelchairs to the children, an experience that would forever change his outlook on life.

“I saw the strange glow of happiness on the faces of these children.

It was as if they had arrived at a picnic spot where they were sharing a jackpot winning,” Otedola recalled, his voice filled with emotion.

In a heart-touching moment, as he was about to leave, one of the children grabbed his legs and refused to let go.

When Otedola bent down and asked the child if he needed something else, the child’s response left him speechless.

The child said, “I want to remember your face so that when I meet you in heaven, I will be able to recognize you and thank you once again.”

Otedola described this as the moment he truly understood the meaning of happiness.

“This experience not only made me happy but also changed my attitude towards life completely,” he confessed.

The billionaire’s revelation has sparked widespread reflection and admiration, with many praising his humility and generosity.

Social media platforms have been flooded with messages inspired by his story, with users calling it a lesson in selflessness and genuine compassion.

A Lagos resident, Tunde Adeyemi, commented, “Otedola’s story shows that true happiness comes from giving and touching lives.

It’s a reminder that wealth isn’t just about material possessions but the impact you make on others.”
