The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of outstanding 2025 allowances to Nigerian students studying abroad under the now terminated Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, disclosed that the approved funds had already been remitted through the Central Bank of Nigeria to Nigerian embassies and missions for immediate payment to eligible scholars.

According to the ministry, the released funds represent 50 percent of the approved outstanding obligations for 2025, while arrangements are ongoing to facilitate payment of the remaining balance.
A statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Education explained that the embassies had already received the funds and were expected to begin disbursement to beneficiaries without delay.
Affected students were advised to monitor their accounts as payments are expected to begin reflecting soon.
Alausa stated that the development demonstrates the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to the welfare and academic progress of Nigerian students abroad under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The minister appreciated the patience and resilience shown by affected scholars, assuring them that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting Nigerian students pursuing academic excellence through government scholarship schemes.
He further reiterated the government’s resolve to fulfil all legitimate obligations owed to Nigerian scholars and sustain policies aimed at improving access to quality education and strengthening human capital development.
The ministry also reassured stakeholders of its continued commitment to supporting Nigerian students globally and ensuring effective implementation of government scholarship programmes.
