EKO HOT BLOG reports that the expulsion of Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, and former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu was announced on Saturday during the PDP national convention at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
Shortly after the announcement, Fintiri issued a statement clarifying that he was not part of the decision. He warned that Wike’s removal was not in the interest of the party and insisted he would not align with any move capable of worsening internal conflicts within the PDP.
According to the governor, the expulsion could deepen the party’s divisions at a time when unity is needed. He stressed that reconciliation, dialogue and internal cohesion remain the only viable path forward for the PDP.
Fintiri said, “I wish to categorically state that I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, @GovWike from PDP. I believe that this decision is not in the best interest of the party, and I will not be party to any attempt that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis.”
He added that he remains committed to supporting efforts that promote peace, stability and progress within the party. The governor urged all stakeholders to focus on healing internal rifts and prioritising collective strength over further fragmentation.

He concluded by reaffirming that his stance is rooted in the desire to preserve the party and ensure its long-term stability.
