A tragic road accident on the Second Niger Bridge in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has claimed the lives of four people. Three others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at St. Rebecca Hospital.
According to Eko Hot Blog, the crash, which occurred on Monday, involved a cement-laden truck and two other vehicles. Eyewitnesses report that the truck, reportedly belonging to the BUA Group, was traveling at a high speed as it approached the bridge. It lost control, toppled over, and crushed the two smaller vehicles.

Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), were immediately dispatched to the scene. Mr. Frederick Ogidan, the Delta State Sector Commander for the FRSC, confirmed the incident and attributed the crash to overspeeding by the truck driver.
Ogidan stated that the victims were trapped in the vehicles and that his team had to use a tow truck for the rescue operation.
Authorities are now urging motorists to adhere to speed limits and drive responsibly, especially on major routes like the Second Niger Bridge, to prevent future tragedies.
