President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed a landmark Bilateral Air Service Agreement with Brazil, a move that establishes direct air links between Nigeria and South America’s largest economy. The agreement was formalized on Monday during President Tinubu’s official state visit to Brasília.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, signed the agreement on behalf of Nigeria, while Brazil’s Minister of Transport, Silvio Costa Filho, signed for his country.
Both President Tinubu and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva witnessed the ceremony.

The new agreement creates a framework for direct flights that will significantly enhance trade, tourism, investment, and diplomatic relations between the two nations. The deal also represents a key step in Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships and improve global connectivity.

President Tinubu arrived in Brazil with a delegation that included several senior government officials and ministers.
During his two-day visit, he will also hold meetings with other key Brazilian government officials, including the President of the Senate and the President of the Supreme Federal Court, as both nations explore opportunities for mutual growth and development.
