He said the special enforcement exercise would run for one week, from May 25 to May 31, and would be carried out across major highways in Osun State to reduce road crashes and ensure smooth traffic flow during the festive period.
Adebayo urged motorists and other road users to strictly observe traffic rules, warning that violations such as speeding, dangerous driving and reckless overtaking would attract penalties.
He explained that the operation would be supported by sister security agencies and reinforced with logistics including three ambulances, two roadside clinics, one tow truck, and 15 patrol vehicles.
According to him, the FRSC’s mandate includes clearing road obstructions, identifying causes of road traffic crashes, and implementing preventive measures to enhance road safety nationwide.

The commander further appealed for public cooperation, stressing that adherence to traffic regulations would help reduce accidents during the holiday season. He also called on media organisations and stakeholders to continue supporting road safety awareness campaigns in the state.
He highlighted common causes of highway crashes such as speeding, lane indiscipline, overloading, and wrongful overtaking, urging collective action to curb them.
In a related development, some commuters and transport operators have expressed concerns over rising transport fares ahead of the Sallah celebration, attributing the increase to the hike in petrol prices.
A driver at Nelson Mandela Park, Old Garage, Osogbo, Mr. Kola Ayanfe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that transport costs have remained unstable due to fuel price increases.

He advised travellers to plan their trips carefully to avoid being stranded or overcharged during the festive rush, while calling on the government to address the rising cost of transportation.
Similarly, a passenger, Miss Kafayat Abdullahi, said she paid N2,500 from Ilorin to Osogbo and expected to pay between N3,000 and N3,500 to continue her journey to Ibadan.
She lamented the worsening economic situation, noting that fuel price increases have also pushed up food and other essential commodity prices.
Abdullahi urged transport operators to show restraint in fare increases during the festive period and called on the government to ensure fuel affordability for motorists.
