EKO HOT BLOG reports that the explosion reportedly took place at a gas refilling shop when a technician attempted to fix a faulty gas cylinder. The resulting fire engulfed nearby buildings, forcing their occupants to flee for safety.
A relative of one of the victims, who requested anonymity, revealed that the shop owner had been selling gas in the area for years.
He shared the distressing news of his in-law and her husband’s involvement in the explosion, disclosing that they had already spent over N500,000 on medical expenses.

Another source confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the explosion resulted in extensive damage to nearby homes and that no fatalities had occurred.
“About 20 people were burned, including a pregnant woman,” the source added. “This is a devastating start to the year, and we urge the government to provide assistance to the victims.”
