Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking on Thursday at the Stakeholders’ Consultative and Engagement Meeting on the 2026 Budget held at Ogunlana Hall, University of Ibadan, the governor explained that his administration had built a strong roadmap for sustainable growth in the state.

He said, suggesting someone who already understands the workings and vision of his government would be a logical step toward achieving lasting development.
Makinde said, “If we put anybody forward from within our team, it means we have assessed that person and believe they share our vision. It will not be about the individual but about the collective plan for the continued development of Oyo State.”

He added that while he might recommend a capable member of his team, the final decision rests with the people of the state. According to him, Oyo residents are now more politically aware and will judge candidates by their ideas rather than sentiments.
“We will present our choice to the people, but ultimately, they will decide who leads them. Oyo State has gone beyond stunt politics.
Our people now ask critical questions and expect clear answers,” he said.
