A Migili speaking residential area of Ashige in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State was thrown into chaos on Tuesday night after gunmen invaded Akunza community during a traditional wedding ceremony.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the attack reportedly occurred while wedding festivities were ongoing, forcing residents and guests to flee in panic as sporadic gunshots rang through the community.
A youth leader in the area, who confirmed the incident, said at least three persons were killed during the attack, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to him, women and children were among those injured and have since been rushed to a nearby health facility, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Residents described the incident as sudden and frightening, noting that the assailants struck without warning before fleeing the area.

As of the time of filing this report, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, while security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
