The Lawmaker representing Epe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester Oluwadahunsi, fondly known as Sketel, celebrated his birthday in a unique way on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, coinciding with Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in what many described as a life-touching gesture, the lawmaker empowered over 100 constituents with cash grants of ₦50,000 each to support or expand their businesses.
In addition, he distributed 10kg bags of rice alongside cash gifts to more than 1,000 households across Eredo LCDA, providing relief and joy to families.
The empowerment programme, which held at Ora Junction, Mojoda in Eredo LCDA, followed a similar outreach for constituents of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA the previous day.
The event was attended by top dignitaries, including APC State Vice-Chairman for Lagos East, Yeye Olayinka Olusanya; APC Apex Leader in Epe Constituency II, Hon. Wasiu Odeyemi (WASTAB); APC Stalwart in Ikosi-Ejinrin, Hon. Nurudeen Yusuf; Maiyegun of Odomola Kingdom, High Chief Elujoba Adegoke Daniel; APC LGA Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Mahmood Agbaraojo; APC LGA Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Ajenifuja Witu; and several others.
Speaking at the event, Chief Adeolu Funsho Ogunkelu, elder brother of the celebrant, praised the lawmaker’s selfless style of celebration.
“My brother wholeheartedly loves and cares for his constituents. For years now, instead of throwing a big birthday party, he has chosen to empower people.
This year, he gave ₦50,000 each to over 100 beneficiaries in both Ikosi-Ejinrin and Eredo LCDAs, alongside food support and cash gifts.
This is his way of appreciating the people for their loyalty and support, while also aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. My advice to all constituents is to continue to support him so that he can achieve even more.”
High Chief Elujoba Adegoke Daniel described the lawmaker as a problem-solver, saying:
“Hon. Sketel is an amazing man. If you present 100 problems to him, he will solve all 100.
He is a father figure in Epe Constituency II, and his quality representation has brought great development. On this special day, I wish him long life, good health, and God’s blessings.”
Also commending him, Hon. Lawal AbdulLateef Abiodun said:
“Hon. Sketel is God-sent to the people of Epe Constituency II.
It feels as though this is the first time we are truly being represented in the Lagos State House of Assembly. He is kind-hearted and takes care of everyone, regardless of party affiliation.
My prayer is that he rises politically and becomes our Senator in Lagos East in the nearest future.”
