Over 600 retired Israeli officials have written an open letter to United States President Donald Trump, calling on him to help pressure the Israeli government to immediately end the war in Gaza.
Eko Hot Blog retrieved that a former security personnel said it was their professional assessment that Hamas, the armed Palestinian group, no longer poses a serious threat to Israel’s security.

They appealed to Trump to use his influence on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the military campaign and prioritise the release of Israeli hostages.
“Your popularity among most Israelis gives you the platform to guide Prime Minister Netanyahu in the right direction. Halt the fighting, bring our hostages home, and put an end to the human suffering,” the letter read.
This appeal comes at a time when Netanyahu’s government is reportedly planning to intensify military operations in Gaza, as indirect ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas have once again stalled.
The war began after the Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which left about 1,200 people dead and saw over 250 individuals taken hostage.
Since then, Israel’s military response has resulted in a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with the Hamas-controlled health ministry claiming over 60,000 people have been killed.

On Monday, Gaza’s health authorities reported at least 94 more deaths in the past 24 hours, attributing many of them to Israeli air raids. The ministry also stated that 24 people were killed while trying to collect food aid — a scenario that has become alarmingly frequent in recent months.
