Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a governorship hopeful in Ogun State, is reportedly set to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming days.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the former senator, who represented Ogun Central between 2007 and 2011 and also served as state Commissioner for Health, disclosed the development in confidence on Wednesday.

According to the associate, Obasanjo has indicated her intention to align with the PDP, stressing that her political interest remains focused on Ogun State and its future leadership direction.

This development comes shortly after she announced her resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing alleged marginalisation, unfair treatment, and lack of respect from party leaders.
In a resignation letter dated May 31 and addressed to the APC chairman in Ogun State, Chief Yemi Sanusi, she criticised the party’s handling of its governorship consensus arrangement, particularly the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) as the party’s flag bearer for Ogun West.
She argued that the process did not follow due procedure, stating that she was neither consulted nor carried along before the announcement was made.
Obasanjo also alleged that some of her supporters were assaulted and restricted from accessing the venue where Adeola was declared the consensus candidate.
Despite her grievances, she had initially congratulated Adeola publicly and pledged support for his ambition, while also acknowledging a phone call from him the following day, during which he reportedly expressed appreciation and promised a follow-up visit.
She further explained that during his visit, her supporters presented several requests for consideration, which she communicated to him, but said no response had been received months later.

The former senator said the lack of engagement and perceived neglect left her with no option but to exit the party.
She, however, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Ogun APC leadership, and other party stakeholders for their support during her time in the ruling party.
Obasanjo had earlier hinted at a political comeback when she re-registered with the APC in Ward 11, Ibogun, Ifo Local Government Area earlier in the year.
She left active politics in 2011 after losing her re-election bid to the Senate and relocated to the United States, before re-emerging in recent months with political billboards across Abeokuta signalling renewed interest in Ogun politics.
