Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has clarified that her recent video promoting the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) was done voluntarily, without payment, and was not politically motivated.
Eko Hot Blog reported that a video featuring Ojo, which went viral, highlighted upgrades at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, drawing mixed reactions online due to her previous political views.

In the Instagram post accompanying the video, Ojo wrote, “FAAN is changing for the better in so many ways. From the renovation of MMIA Lagos Terminal 1 and the comfort of Terminal 2, to the outstanding service of their Protocol Team, I’m proud of my country.”
The clip sparked debate as some social media users noted Ojo’s past criticisms of the APC government during the 2020 EndSARS protests and her support for Peter Obi in the 2023 elections.

FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku responded to the speculation, denying that Ojo was appointed as a brand ambassador or received any payment. “Iyabo Ojo was not ‘awarded a gig’ by FAAN, nor is she an ambassador.
She was asked to raise awareness of airport improvements while filming a movie scene. There was no financial incentive,” Kuku stated on her verified X account.
Addressing the backlash, Ojo explained on Instagram that she acted out of patriotism, not political alignment. “I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice.
When I see progress, airports upgraded, roads rebuilt, systems improved, I shout it from the rooftops, not because I’m paid, not because it’s political, but because I want good for my country,” she wrote.

She added that FAAN approached her during her movie shoot, asking her to highlight the visible improvements. “FAAN approached me: ‘You’ve seen the changes, please help us spread the word.’ So I did for free. No fee. No contract. Just love for Nigeria,” Ojo said.
She emphasized that her praise is for good work, not for any government, stating, “I praise GOOD, not government, and if the government does good, I’ll praise them too. My loyalty? To my country. Always.”
Ojo concluded by saying she is open to collaborating with any political group that contributes to national development: “I’ll work with any political party, as long as it’s about building a better tomorrow for our dear nation. No hate. No agenda. Just hands joined.”
