- ‘There Is No Evidence Jonathan Submitted Any Nomination Form’ – Former Aide
- Former aide said Jonathan is not desperate to return.
- Imagwe insisted no nomination form was signed by Jonathan.
Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Jude Imagwe, has dismissed claims linking his former principal to a 2027 presidential bid, insisting there is no evidence that Jonathan obtained, completed, or submitted any nomination form for the election.
Imagwe made the clarification during an interview on News Central Television while reacting to the decision of the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to declare Jonathan as its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to him, the former president has not indicated any interest in returning to Aso Rock and should not be dragged into political calculations without his consent.
Imagwe described Jonathan as a leader who is neither power-hun
gry nor desperate to reclaim the presidency, noting that his conduct after the 2015 election remains evidence of his disposition towards power.
“One thing is clear. That is the fact that I do not think former President Jonathan is power-hungry or power-drunk.
“If he was power-hungry, he would not have relinquished power in 2015. I also do not think that President Jonathan is desperate to return back to Aso Rock because clearly he hasn’t forgotten anything there.
“I also know clearly that Jonathan is where he is today through several sacrifices, through commitment, through discipline, through resilience, and above all, through humility,” he said.
He accused some political actors of attempting to keep Jonathan’s name in public discourse ahead of the 2027 election despite the former president’s silence on the matter.
“But the unfortunate situation is that certain persons that have masqueraded themselves with dangerous ambition to perpetually want to remain on the airspace of public conversation as regards 2027, have chosen to begin to drag an innocent gentleman’s name who, for reasons too, has still not said anything about it,” Imagwe stated.
Speaking further, he argued that there was no evidence to support claims that Jonathan had accepted any presidential nomination.

“What is clear is that there is nobody that gets a nomination form that does not have his or her signature on it, and such instances are ceremonial.
