EKO HOT BLOG reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima led the national leadership of the APC at the event. Other dignitaries in attendance included the APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, and members of the Progressive Governors Forum led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Governor Mutfwang was presented with the APC flag alongside his deputy, Josephine Piyo. Also defecting with him were members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, commissioners, special advisers, local government chairmen, and several former PDP leaders across the state.
With the defection, Mutfwang automatically assumes the position of APC leader in Plateau State and is expected to spearhead mobilisation efforts for the party, including the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Media and Public Affairs to the governor, Dr Gyang Bere, said residents of Plateau State welcomed the move due to its perceived development benefits.
According to him, the defection is expected to strengthen political alignment within the North Central region and create a stronger partnership capable of addressing long standing challenges in the state.
“The move would unite the North Central and result in a marriage that will herald solutions to developmental challenges, including infrastructural development and security,” Bere said.

He added that the decision would also enhance collaboration between Plateau State and the Federal Government, while renewing public confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
“The advantages of greater federal support and internal harmony are enormous,” Bere stated.
