The Kano State Police Command has placed a ban on all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, citing security concerns and the need to maintain public order.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, made the announcement on Friday during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters, emphasizing that the decision was taken to prevent possible disruptions during the celebrations.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to CP Bakori, intelligence reports indicated that certain groups planned to use the Durbar festivities to incite unrest, prompting the authorities to intervene.
“Following credible intelligence reports of orchestrated plans by miscreants and their sponsors to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities, the Command, in consultation with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, has decided to prohibit all Durbar activities across the state,” he stated.
He assured residents that robust security measures had been put in place to guarantee the safety of worshippers at designated Eid prayer grounds.
To ensure order, the police advised worshippers to adhere to security guidelines, including avoiding suspicious objects and complying with the ban on horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.
CP Bakori further urged parents and guardians to prevent their children from being used as tools for violence. He called on all residents to embrace peace and unity during the festivities.
“As we celebrate, let us remember that peace is paramount. We must put aside our differences and work together as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” he said.
The police command also encouraged continuous cooperation with security agencies and advised residents to report any suspicious activities.
This move comes amid heightened tensions in the Kano Emirate. The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, had earlier
