The Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State, AbdulWasiu Kayode Bawa-Allah, has described Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary as a time for sober reflection, celebration of past gains, and a renewed commitment to building a greater nation, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Bawa-Allah, in his goodwill message, paid tribute to the country’s founding fathers Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Anthony Enahoro, Chief (Mrs.) Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, and Chief (Mrs.) Margaret Ekpo whose sacrifices and vision secured Nigeria’s sovereignty in 1960.

He noted that the nation, despite enduring decades of challenges, has grown to become a source of pride for Africa and the black race globally, producing outstanding individuals across various fields.
According to him, Nigeria’s 26 years of unbroken democratic rule and ongoing reforms remain proof of the country’s resilience and determination to achieve prosperity.
“It is a perfect time to reflect and celebrate our gains while we collectively work on addressing our common challenges. Nigeria is indeed a great nation, poised for another 65 years of greatness. Our tomorrow is certainly brighter. As we say in Lagos… Moyo fun e, Moyo fun rami (happiness to you, happiness to me). Congratulations, Nigeria,” Bawa-Allah said.

As the nation marks 65 years of independence, he urged citizens to embrace unity, uphold democratic values, and work together for a brighter and more prosperous future.
