EKO HOT BLOG reports that the confirmation was given on Wednesday by Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, Chairman of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, who said the family has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday at Ile Nla to deliberate on Ayinde’s interest.
The Awujale stool became vacant in July following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona at age 91. The genealogical data form is a key requirement for all contenders, as it traces their ancestry back seven generations to confirm their membership in the ruling house and prevent outsiders from attempting to claim the throne. Owoyemi explained that once an applicant is verified as a member of the ruling house, they can then proceed to obtain the expression of interest form.
Although the official deadline for form collection closed on Friday, December 5, the family granted Ayinde a five-day extension, which expired on Wednesday, December 10. Owoyemi confirmed the submission, saying, “Yes, he has sent someone to submit his form, and the family will meet on Thursday to discuss the nomination issues.”
Ayinde, who holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebu land, has traditionally been linked to the Fidipote ruling house. His move to contest through the Jadiara unit of the Fusengbuwa ruling house has therefore generated considerable interest. His form reportedly traces his descent to the Setejoye family unit of the Jadiara ruling house through his father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe.
However, his claim to the lineage faces strong opposition. Two major family heads have publicly rejected Ayinde’s genealogical ties. The Chairman of the Jadiara ruling house, Otunba Akinola Odedina, disputed the claim in a letter circulating online. He said, “I can say categorically that Wasiu has no genealogical lineage to Jadiara Royal House.

The Chairman of Fusengbuwa Ruling House may have given him a nomination form, expecting him to authenticate his roots. We have waited for him to present his documents to prove his linkage to Jadiara Royal House. He is yet to show up.”
Similarly, the Chairman of the Bubiade royal family, Alhaji O. B. Yusuf, stated that neither Ayinde nor his father has ancestral ties to their lineage. Their objections present significant challenges to Ayinde’s bid for the revered throne.
