A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Samuel Ajose, has rejected the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Ajose argued that the decision by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) would not hold, insisting that the process lacks final authority.

The GAC, widely regarded as the apex decision-making body within the APC in Lagos, had earlier endorsed Hamzat during a closed-door meeting at Lagos House, Marina, signalling early political alignment ahead of the next election cycle.

Speaking on the development, GAC leader Tajudeen Olusi said members unanimously backed Hamzat, expressing confidence in his ability to sustain the state’s development trajectory.
However, reacting during a television interview, Ajose maintained that the endorsement does not determine the party’s final candidate, suggesting that attempts were being made to influence broader party leadership.

He stated that such moves would not ultimately decide the outcome, adding that the process must follow established party procedures.
The development highlights growing internal debates within the Lagos APC as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
