Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) is uniting stakeholders across the state and beyond in commemoration of 16 Days of Activism against domestic and sexual violence.
The world’s 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence runs every year from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).

“As part of our statutory mandate, we would also be embarking on various training and capacity-building initiatives including training of Judges and Magistrates on best practices for adjudicating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence cases, training of Desk Officers drawn from the 20 Local Government Areas as well as sensitisation and enlightenment campaigns for children,” she said.
Vivour-Adeniyi stated further, that the agency would also recognise 16 outstanding women who have distinguished themselves in the quest to eradicate all forms of violence against women and girls just like it was done last year.
The Lagos DVSA Executive Secretary, therefore, urged residents of Lagos State to join the 16 days of activism by being active bystanders, believing survivors, see themselves as Mandated Reporters – if they see something, they must say something and do something.
