Lagos Boxers Shine Bright At All African Games
• Ojo Joy Nene delivers Nigeria’s first boxing gold

Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State’s boxers have etched their names in golden glory at the 13th All African Games in Accra, Ghana, emerging as the undisputed kings and queens of the squared circle.
Leading the charge was Ojo Joy Nene, who struck gold first for Team Nigeria in the boxing event with a commanding win over Algeria’s Selmouni Chachira in the women’s 57kg division.

Not to be outdone, Omole Dolapo, a fast-rising pugilistic star, also delivered a knockout performance, clinching gold in the 57kg men’s category. His exploits have earned him a well-deserved spot in the African Olympics Qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal, keeping his dreams of representing Nigeria at the 2024 Paris Olympics alive.
Orakwe Blessing joined the golden parade, reigning supreme in the women’s 70kg division, cementing Lagos’ dominance in the boxing arena.
Kareem Shukurat and Adeshina Zainab added silver medals to Nigeria’s tally in the women’s 54kg and 50kg categories, respectively, as the country’s boxers amassed an impressive haul of eight gold and two silver medals.
