The Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget has refuted claims that ₦4.2 billion was set aside in the 2026 budget to purchase office furniture and microphones for the Office of the Deputy Governor, describing the reports as a misunderstanding of the actual budget provisions.
In a statement released on Friday, Eko Hot Blog gathered that the ministry explained that the ₦4,247,816,006 figure cited in some reports represents the entire capital allocation for the Office of the Deputy Governor for the 2026 fiscal year, not an amount meant solely for furniture and microphones.

According to the ministry, the bulk of the allocation, ₦4,077,816,006, is designated for the reconstruction of the Round House complex, a six-storey facility that accommodates more than 50 offices.

The project includes structural upgrades, retrofitting works, and the installation of alternative energy infrastructure for the building.
The statement further clarified that the remaining ₦170 million in the capital budget is intended for the purchase of office equipment, furniture, fittings, and other related items.
To support its clarification, the ministry said it had attached screenshots of the relevant sections of the budget master sheet for public scrutiny.

It also urged journalists and stakeholders to verify budget information through official channels before publishing reports to prevent misinformation.
The ministry reaffirmed that all budget allocations follow due process, fiscal discipline, and established accounting standards, adding that the Lagos State Government remains committed to the responsible management of public funds while expressing regret over any confusion caused by the interpretation of the budget items.
