EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, made the announcement on Monday while briefing journalists at the Iyana-Oworo section of the Third Mainland Bridge. He warned that the police would not tolerate any attempt to disrupt public peace or obstruct traffic in Lagos.
According to Jimoh, intelligence reports indicated that Sowore and his associates had marked strategic areas such as the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate, and Freedom Park for simultaneous demonstrations aimed at creating gridlock and unrest.
“Sowore should surrender at the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found. Anyone attempting to cause disturbance or block our roads will face the full weight of the law,” the Commissioner warned.
Describing the planned protests as “criminal acts,” Jimoh noted that such gatherings could lead to major traffic disruption and threaten public safety. “It is only someone who needs examination that would attempt to block such a vital route used by thousands daily,” he added.
The Commissioner confirmed that 13 suspects had been arrested in connection with the alleged plot, while Sowore reportedly fled before police operatives arrived at the targeted locations. Investigations, he said, were ongoing to identify other collaborators and sponsors behind the plan.
He revealed that security personnel had been deployed to critical points across Lagos, including bridges, highways, and entry routes, with temporary diversions introduced to maintain order. “The Third Mainland Bridge was not designed to hold stationary weight. Any gathering on it could pose structural risks,” Jimoh cautioned.
Addressing claims surrounding recent demolitions in the Oworo-Soki area, the police chief insisted that the state government duly compensated affected residents, dismissing allegations of injustice as attempts to incite unrest.

Jimoh assured Lagos residents of safety and urged calm, stating that security agencies were fully mobilised to protect lives and property. “We are not sleeping. We will apprehend, investigate, and prosecute anyone attempting to undermine public safety in Lagos,” he said, reiterating that while freedom of expression is protected, it must not degenerate into lawlessness.
