During an emotional session on TikTok Live, Papaya Ex appeared on camera with a visibly bloodied face. She alleged that police officers struck her in the face with a gun, assaulted her breast and physically attacked her driver.
Although the alleged confrontation itself was not shown in the livestream, viewers could see what appeared to be a facial wound as she narrated her account of events.
Responding publicly, Lagos Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin provided the command’s version of events.
According to him, officers on routine night patrol stopped a vehicle carrying three men and two women shortly before 2 a.m. for a standard security check.

Hundeyin stated that the influencer refused the search and allegedly told officers: “You cannot search my car. Don’t you know Papaya? Even your bosses know me.”
He explained that she then drove to the police station with patrol officers following behind. However, he claimed she instructed her driver to speed off, forcing officers to alert another patrol team further ahead to intercept the vehicle.
Hundeyin added that it was during this sequence of events that the TikTok live session began.
Concluding his statement, he said, “@LagosPoliceNG will take it from here,” indicating that the matter would be formally reviewed by the command.
The incident has since sparked widespread debate online, with social media users divided over the competing accounts. As of the time of filing this report, no official outcome of the internal review has been made public.
