- Lagos Seals Oluremi Tinubu, Anambra Warehouses Over Illegal Waste Dumping

The Lagos State Government has sealed two warehouses identified as the Oluremi Tinubu and Anambra warehouses at Ijesha Bus Stop over alleged persistent indiscriminate dumping of refuse on a road median.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the enforcement action was confirmed on Thursday by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Muyiwa Gbadegesin.

According to him, the operation was carried out by LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team in collaboration with the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps and the Nigeria Police.
Gbadegesin said the decision followed repeated violations of the state’s environmental sanitation laws by the affected facilities.
“This morning, LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team, working alongside the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps and the Nigeria Police, sealed the Oluremi Tinubu and Anambra warehouses at Ijesha Bus Stop for persistent indiscriminate dumping of waste on the road median,” he said.
He explained that the action reflects the state’s determination to protect public infrastructure, restore environmental order and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
The LAWMA boss disclosed that the affected warehouses would remain sealed until they meet all compliance requirements set by the relevant authorities.
“The affected premises will remain sealed until all compliance requirements have been met to the satisfaction of the relevant authorities,” Gbadegesin stated.
He urged residents, businesses and institutions to adopt responsible waste management practices, stressing that environmental laws would continue to be enforced without exception.
“A clean Lagos requires responsible waste management from every resident, business and institution. Environmental laws will continue to be enforced without exception,” he added.
Gbadegesin noted that the latest operation underscores the Lagos State Government’s sustained crackdown on environmental sanitation violations as authorities intensify efforts to curb indiscriminate waste disposal and promote compliance with waste management regulations across the state.
