The prosecution alleged that Onajefe, together with Philip Otahre Onobrakpev who is currently at large, conspired in 2023 to defraud Omotayo Olumide Oyebanji and Ernest Adeii, converting the funds for personal use.

The defendant pleaded not guilty. Prosecution counsel, Temitope Banjo, urged the court to set a trial date and requested that Onajefe be remanded, opposing the bail application on the grounds that the defendant had previously been difficult to locate for arraignment and that the prosecution had yet to file a formal reply on points of law.
Defence counsel, Samuel Danni, explained that the bail application, filed on February 6, 2026, was only served on the prosecution on the morning of the arraignment and requested a short adjournment to move the application.
Justice Dada adjourned the case to February 26, 2026, for hearing and ordered that the defendant remain in custody pending further proceedings.
