The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a fresh list of ambassadorial nominees, describing the move as a major step toward restoring Nigeria’s global relevance.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement on Saturday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the appointments mark a clear shift from what he described as years of diplomatic stagnation, ushering in a new era of “strategic, assertive, and purposeful foreign engagement.”

Oladejo said the newly nominated diplomats represent “a deliberate blend of expertise, patriotism, and depth,” reflecting the President’s intention to position Nigeria as a more confident and proactive voice in international affairs.
According to him, the envoys are expected to defend Nigeria’s interests abroad, strengthen bilateral partnerships, counter negative international narratives, and pursue economic, technological, and security collaborations that will translate into real benefits for citizens.
“The world will no longer relate with a hesitant or reactive Nigeria but with one ready to assert itself with dignity, clarity, and strategic purpose,” the statement read.
The APC spokesperson argued that ongoing domestic reforms in security, governance and economic management under the Tinubu administration will provide strong support for a more coherent and impactful foreign policy direction.
He added that Nigeria is now better positioned to reclaim leadership roles within ECOWAS, the African Union, and other regional blocs.

Oladejo outlined key areas of focus for the ambassadors, including enhancing counter-terrorism cooperation, boosting economic diplomacy, advancing energy-transition frameworks favourable to Nigeria, and improving support for Nigerians in the diaspora.
“For years, Nigeria’s global standing was weakened by inconsistency and lack of vision,” he said. “Today, the country is projecting a unified foreign policy message backed by leadership that understands its international obligations.”
Expressing confidence in the capacity of the nominees, Oladejo said they would help secure political, economic and strategic advantages for Nigeria and elevate the country’s diplomatic presence worldwide.
“The era of timid foreign policy is over. Nigeria is rising again deliberately, confidently, and irreversibly,” he added.
The ambassadorial nominees are currently awaiting Senate confirmation before their deployment.
