Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore, said the MICHD initiative remains a vital channel for engaging citizens, particularly pregnant women, a group she described as one of the most delicate segments of society.

Shasore noted that the programme demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to listening, connecting, and responding to residents’ needs through targeted, people-focused interventions.
She added that citizen engagement extends beyond town hall meetings or policy dialogues to include programmes that directly enhance residents’ well-being.
“The MICHD initiative creates a bridge between the government and households, ensuring that no mother or child is left behind in the State’s developmental agenda,” she said.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District I, Dr. Sola Pitan, welcomed participants and commended the State Government for its continued efforts to ensure that every resident benefits from democratic governance.
He highlighted the State’s investments in health infrastructure and personnel aimed at supporting expectant mothers and improving maternal outcomes, encouraging pregnant women to utilize public health centres for safe delivery and professional antenatal care.
The Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, in his goodwill message, thanked the State Government for bringing the MICHD programme to the community.
He emphasised that initiatives like MICHD provide both the State and Local Government the opportunity to assess progress and plan future interventions to ensure residents continue to benefit from good governance.

The programme’s highlight was the State Engagement Session, where pregnant women participated in open dialogue, learned about ongoing government programmes, shared experiences, and engaged directly with government representatives.
The event was attended by dignitaries from Orile-Agege LCDA, health workers from various public health centres under Lagos State Health District I, and staff from the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement.
