State Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo said the suspect was taken into custody on November 14, 2025, after his wife reported that her daughter had been abused while staying with the suspect’s mother.
Investigations revealed that the incident occurred during one of the suspect’s visits to his mother’s home. Additional findings indicated that he had been consulting an herbalist over personal issues.
The victim’s mother explained that she had left the marriage due to physical abuse but did not take her daughter with her. After settling into a new apartment, she requested that her daughter be returned. The suspect went to fetch the girl from his mother’s residence, and it was on that same day that the alleged assault occurred.
The mother noticed signs of infection when she received her daughter and immediately reported the matter to authorities.

Commandant Sotiyo confirmed that the suspect voluntarily confessed to the offence. In his statement, he said he had acquired a new motorcycle on instalment earlier that day and, overcome with excitement, consumed alcohol, which he claimed contributed to his actions.
According to NSCDC spokesperson Kehinde Adeleke, the victim has been taken to a hospital to receive proper medical care.
The command warned the public against harming minors and stressed that anyone found guilty of such acts would face the full weight of the law.
