Taiwo assured residents that the project would be executed to the highest technical standards, stressing the importance of commitment and timely delivery.
“This project must not be business as usual. We want all hands on deck to ensure timely and successful delivery. Let this dream become a reality,” she said.
Also speaking, the Director of Production, Engr. Agiri Mustapha, described the rehabilitation as critical, noting that past challenges with pump installations had affected operations at the facilities. He said the project represents a major step toward restoring optimal performance at the plants.

Contractors and equipment manufacturers involved in the project KSB Pumps & Valves Nigeria Ltd., Wilo Pumps Nigeria Ltd., and Springfield Electric Ltd. — assured the corporation of their readiness to deliver quality work within the project timeline.
The Iju Water Treatment Plant, one of the oldest in Lagos, dates back to the colonial era and initially produced about 2.45 million gallons of water per day. Subsequent upgrades increased its capacity to approximately 45 million gallons per day as Lagos expanded.
The Adiyan Waterworks, commissioned in 1991 under the Lagos Water Supply Expansion Project, is a major modern facility designed to produce about 70 million gallons per day, making it one of the largest water treatment plants in the state.
Both facilities are managed by the LWC and form part of a broader network of waterworks aimed at improving water supply reliability for Lagos’s rapidly growing population.
