Upon returning home, the tenant discovered that several valuable items had been stolen.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a statement released in Minna. According to him, the case was reported to the police on May 30, prompting an intelligence-led investigation which led to Mubarak’s arrest on June 3.
“Nana Mubarak, 24, a housewife and nursing mother from Angwan-Biri, was arrested in connection with the burglary. A search of her residence led to the recovery of most of the stolen items,” SP Abiodun said.
Recovered items include an electric cooking stove, a 6kg gas cylinder, an electric blender, two electric pressing irons, three kettles, three cooking pots, rubber basins, extension boxes, 18 pieces of wrappers, plastic cups, baskets, a set of white food coolers, and various kitchen utensils.
However, an LG 32-inch plasma television set was missing. During interrogation, Mubarak confessed to selling the TV for ₦55,000.
The television was subsequently traced and recovered from the buyer.
Both the suspect and the buyer of the stolen television have been charged to court.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their communities, reiterating the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
