The lifeless body of Tope Olajide, a resident of Otan Ile in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, was discovered hanging in his home on Thursday.

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) later arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began preliminary investigations.
A source at the scene explained that when the operatives arrived, the body was still hanging but no one dared to enter the room due to fear.
The NSCDC personnel questioned those present, including the wife of the deceased, before the body was eventually brought down.
The source added that Olajide, who was an auto mechanic, was well known in the community, and his death threw residents into panic.

Confirming the incident on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of NSCDC in Osun Command, Kehinde Adeleke, said, “On Thursday at about 9:27 am, our office in Ilare Division received information that one Olajide Tope, popularly known as MECO, who lived in Otan Ile, had committed suicide.
“Information gathered from people close to the deceased suggested he had a misunderstanding with his wife on Wednesday night. While su!c!de has been insinuated, the exact reason behind his action remains unclear.”
